[...Strange. So he's a guard in the service of a prince, and yet he's a commoner, not nobility or anything? That's absolutely absurd; they don't let commoners near princes, and certainly would never task one with the responsibility of guarding them. Well, unless they were "guarding" in the sense of, say, being a poison tester of their food or somesuch, but that doesn't seem to go along with what he'd said about exploring and helping, so...

And yet, he seems so earnest about it. He's not adamant about making her believe it, not out to convince her she's wrong. You really don't have to respect me, he says, and what a luxury it must be, to be so used to people respecting you as a matter of course that you're able to simply tell them that they needn't.

I'm a commoner. How easily he says that, like it doesn't matter.]

I would think you wouldn't be so quick to simply...accept that.

[He's asked her a question, and she knows she ought to answer it, but for a second it's hard to see how adhering to decorum really matters, if what he's saying is true, and all of a sudden she can't resist the dark temptation to just lash out at it a little.]

You could have all manner of people respecting you, as a knight, but you'd simply rather they didn't — I can't say I understand that, really.

[She ought to be playing along. He won't help her if she isn't perfect and sweet like she ought to be, she knows that. But maybe he wouldn't help her regardless. Who ever has, really?]

Well, I'm afraid you won't find me so ill-mannered. My name is Miss Meridiana Everett, and I'm so very grateful for all the consideration you've shown me, Sir Prompto.
