But no – she looks again, without even being sure why, and realizes that this girl is another stranger. One of the new arrivals. And whoever that man tugging her along so insistently is... he's a stranger too but something about the way he's dragging her through the forest makes Violet's stomach a little upset.
She starts to follow them. Slowly and at a bit of a distance, so she can make her leave if it turns out her concerns are unwarranted. But the faster they go, the faster Violet finds herself going and she doesn't stop when the girl trips. She only comes to a halt once the man, whoever he is, disappears into the leaves and she's at an acceptable enough distance to call out -- ][ ... and then she's not sure where else to go from there.
