Infinite in mystery is the Gift of the Goddess We seek it thus, and take to the sky Ripples form on the water's surface The wandering soul knows no rest.
[A red-gloved hand closes a white leather-bound book, and glowing blue eyes - literally glowing, should anyone care to notice - glance over the abandoned mine that Genesis has found himself in. This...this is not Adstring, nor does it appear to be anywhere back on Gaia that he's familiar with. He lifts one hand to touch the sword at his side to reassure himself of its presence, and then summons a flame to his hand to make sure that that's still working as well. Which is when he notices something unusual - he can't feel the fire's heat. Genesis has always been at least somewhat immune to fire, or at least not bothered by it, but one of the reasons that he enjoys it so much is the thrill of the heat rushing through him. On a more practical basis, it helps him keep from actually injuring himself with his own flames.]
A new mystery indeed. Just what is it that I've found myself in the middle of this time...?
[He rolls the flame over his fingers and the back of his hand with finely-tuned control, and does his best to ignore the growing ache in his joints.]

[The tunnels are almost nostalgic from his childhood in Banora, and Genesis crouches carefully to examine the crystals embedded in the mine walls. He's staying away from the tools, being all too familiar with automata going rogue when left unsupervised - yet another thing to blame ShinRa for.
Instead he touches some of the loose crystals lying around, cautiously channeling his magic into a few of them in the same way that he might try to figure out exactly what a materia is or how it might react.
He's certainly not an unnoticeable sight, crouched at the edge of the cave in a long red leather coat with a shining one-handed sword at his side, making the crystals glow with the touch of a hand.]

[There's a tremble in the cave walls, and Genesis has just enough warning to lunge for the person near him and push them out of the way before the ceiling and walls start to crumble downward, blocking off the tunnel and sealing them in darkness. Out of reflex, the SOLDIER manifests his wing, ash-dark and double-jointed, to try and protect both himself and the person that he's pushed aside.
When the noise and rumbling starts to settle, he slowly opens visibly-glowing eyes in what is likely somewhere much darker than before, and hisses as the usual ache of degradation in his body starts to spread. Rocks aren't usually much of an issue for a fully-healthy SOLDIER to deal with, but he hasn't been completely healthy in quite some time.]
