MARCH OOC INTRO
Hello, and welcome to the second OOC Intro for Phantasmal Rift! This post also serves as a CR meme and overall state-of-the-game update!
IC Intro will go up on Monday, at the conclusion of the dungeon - but if you'd like, you can go ahead and jump into the tail end of the dungeon log now! For new players and old, there's a most marvelous surprise hanging out on the beach...
STATE OF THE GAME
Sign-up updates: Based upon the first dungeon, unless there's something that need post-signup plotting (such as specialized opt-ins from the mods), going forward, dungeon sign-ups will now be run at the same time as the Test Drive going up and Reserves opening. The calendar has been updated to reflect this. (Sign-ups will still be open for a week, now closing right before the dungeon goes up.)
Missions: With the completion of the first dungeon, characters can now undertake missions for loot outside of expedition periods (and also for something to do)! Have a peek at the Missions Page for more details.
Setting: With the conclusion of the dungeon in three days, characters will be free to explore the shoreline area around the station at their leisure! The Fissure's distortion is gone, leaving behind just a nice stretch of beach... Just in time for the springtime weather to grow warmer! Aside from the removed distortions, the general outline of the shoreline is still the same as it was in the dungeon. Mind the eels!
Station updates: In addition to the shoreline itself, characters now have access to a newly constructed viewing deck, on the overlooking-the-cliffs side of the station. Just take the ramp that reaches down around the station from the far end of the roof, or head out the new door across from the elevator on the residential floorm! Besides the great view, the deck is also equipped with a clear plastic roof and a mismatched set of deck furniture. (Check the station's setting page for more details!) Also, the food list has been updated! New items are in bold, if you were wondering.
Calendar updates: Have been done through the first week of June! Note that that the way the scheduling worked out, there will be no dungeon or apps in the month of May, instead happening the last week of April and the first week of June. Our next dungeon will open on April 20, with sign-ups on April 13th! (Happy Homestuck day.) Please also note the inclusion of IC dates in the calendar going forward (marked every Sunday but still running at a 1:1 ratio until the next dungeon).
Permissions post round-up: If you have a required opt-in/out permissions post for your characters' powers, please make sure to drop it under the appropriate comment header below! Existing characters' permissions are already linked there, for your convenience. Also, don't forget to hit up the Housing Page and maybe do up an IC contact post!

- 3/13-19; Sunny, with slowly increasing temperatures. Winter seems to be coming to an end.
- 3/20-21; Cloudy, the sun not quite managing to break through to sunbreaks, but there are times it comes close.
- 3/22-24; Light rain, constant drizzle.
- 3/25; Mostly sunny, with occasional spits of tiny hailstones that pound furiously against the station and deck roof before fading away.
- 3/26-27; Heavy rain, starting overnight and lasting until afternoon on the 27th without cease. 27th is cloudy the rest of the day.

- 3/31-4/3; Patchy clouds and sun; rare, brief rainshowers.

What's their deal?: Local Beanpole Is Actually Two Thousand Years Dead, Very Sad, Multiple Counts of Very Regrettable Fraticide. Or: This is Izunia, he's the twin of the game's main villain, he's kind of a huge part of the reason why his brother is the main villain, he Regrets It A Lot. I'm running almost entirely on headcanon here because I enjoy twisting knives in people who aren't even in this game (yet), but also because the muse grabbed me by the brain and wouldn't shut up so now we're here.
These days he's evolved into Weird Locations Nap Grandpa and can be caught snoozing pretty much anywhere on the station, honestly, thanks to carrying a comfortable folding chair in his hammerspace.
Plotting: BASICALLY SAME AS LAST TIME nap grandpa is somewhat more used to having a body and getting comfortable with. yknow. everything.
His favorite descendant is here now so that's... good? It's something, anyway.
The week after the dungeon will probably catch him mostly in the magic lab (as he works hard on never being caught without a light again), the viewing deck (for his usual sunrise and sunset viewing) and the open space of ground between the station and the lighthouse (if anyone wants to spar, maybe?).
...Also if I have the points I'm getting him a cat.

What's their deal?: Amnesiac tactician found lying in field befriends prince, turns out to be reincarnation of evil dragon, evil dragon is destroyed and tactician survives thanks to The Power of Friendship™.
Except there are two amnesiac tacticians, a pair of twins who both have the same name because Validar is a Good Father. Lissa found this "too confusing", so she gave one a nickname, and now this one's called Wren. They also haven't quite gotten around to killing said dragon yet, but they're getting there. Or they were getting there when they got pulled into this place. Whoops.
Plotting: Really haven't got a great deal in mind beyond just getting her settled in! The requisite oohing and ahhing at all this ~impossible future technology~ shall occur and she'll be fairly eager to socialize right out of the gate.

What's their deal?: A child soldier loses her arms when her country wins the war and after having been raised in the military, suddenly has no way of coping in civilian life. She's taken in by a former general and becomes an "Auto Memoir Doll", a ghost writer for people who cannot write or express themselves in the way they wish. Currently on a personal quest to get some character development so she can grow out of being a Rei Ayanami Expy and into someone who can properly understand the world and people around her.
Plotting: Not a whole lot, honestly! This is my first game for Violet so mostly I'm concentrating on getting her settled and getting her some CR. no wait that's a lie, i want someone to teach her about emojis and memes. there.

What's their deal?: Middle-aged jadeblood, outlaw field medic and AWOL from the brooding caverns. More or less accidentally an anti-imperialist revolutionary, but not exactly disappointed with that turn of events. Her lusus was basically mothman and she's inherited a tendency to hang around watching disasters for longer than is really wise. At least she's got the medical training to be helpful in the aftermath? Likes people, but a little acerbic and a bit of a know-it-all.
Plotting: Nothing big. She'll be around, socializing and trying to act like she's not fussing over people. Also will be available for medical support if anyone needs that, although for non-emergency stuff it's probably best to catch her in the evenings because she is, by choice and habit, nocturnal.

What's their deal?: Pidonus is a Succubus, demoness of lust/desire/etc, who before arriving at the station was working as the Goldfish Poop Gang to a bunch of heroes to get them to kill a specific rival of her queen! Technically, she succeeded! Which has left her almost completely aimless.
Plotting: Several people have figured out by now that a lot of Pidonus' views of herself aren't her natural views; her 'Queen', who she refuses to name, has brainwashed her into blind loyalty. She was also supposed to have an inherent sense of superiority to 'mortals', but that's been beaten out of her before she arrived. More exploration of that might be good in the long run. In the short run, she's mostly a ditz, in spite of her powerful Bardic Music and enhanced-beyond-normal racial powers.
