After some consideration, and with a great deal of regret, I'm afraid to announce that I can no longer run Phantasmal Rift.

It's no secret, I imagine, that Claire left the mod team after a personal falling out between us. I don't want to discuss the specifics, but it results in me having a great deal of negative feelings about this project that we worked on closely together. In particular, the plot elements involving Lucia - which are critical to the overall narrative and unavoidable in continuing the plot - fill me with a paralyzing dread.

It's not simply that I'm not getting anything positive out of the game anymore. The amount of negative feelings I have about the situation is affecting me outside of modwork - not only in the rest of my RP, but also in the rest of my creative work. The one piece that I did manage to produce was... Enlightening to the negative state of my own mental health on this issue, and that's why I came to this decision.

I understand how sudden and disappointing this is, to both our existing players and to the new players who were planning to join this cycle. I'm disappointed and upset myself. But I think that this is the best decision not only for me, but for the game - because I don't think that I'm capable of bringing you an experience that would be enjoyable, and you deserve better than that. You deserve the best.

Though this is a sudden end to the mod-created narrative, PhanRift will not entirely be closing its doors. I always intended the post-endgame fate of the game to be a musebox for those who still wanted to use it, and I stand by that intention. The setting and remaining materials will remain open for players to use, and in the coming days I will post the outline of what of the plot remained to be played out. I will also be available to answer questions, in order to hopefully help character find a satisfying "after" for those who want to do so, and for those curious about the behind-the-scenes of the plotline and the way the game evolved.

And to you, the players, my friends - thank you. You made this year an incredible experience, and even if the ending is unsatisfying to many of us, I am still very proud of the game and of us. While the mod team breaking up ultimately brought about the end of the game, it was the players and your involvement and investment that made it what it was. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

Above all else, may you know joy, until we meet again.
