haha what the fuck has happened here, their relationship has done a goddamn 180°.

Given how Akira treated him when he arrived, Shido can say with certainty that he never expected things to end up the way they have. For awhile he was actually... genuinely intimidated by this boy. He outright hit him in a fresh wound and then just seemed to have an endless amount of anger towards him... Shido was even afraid that he was a toxic presence and that he was enabling Akechi's anger?

How he couldn't possibly be more wrong.

He's instead discovered a teen who is supportive, hard-working, forgiving and kind. There is an absolutely staggering amount of strength in this kid, and the cracks that show the weaknesses, in his opinion, only serve to show how much hell Akira has been through and survived and can still live, and to him, that's... incredible.

And oh good god he's gotten so attached. Which has been a goddamn rollercoaster for him because up until the birthday party he was pretty sure the attachment was one-sided and that was. Awkward, but understandable, considering he kind of fucking ruined his life back home? and fuck if he has the slightest damn clue why akira has any sort of positive emotion towards him and he doesn't

he doesn't know how to approach it? at all???

There's a whole lot of WANTING TO DO HIM GOOD, wanting to be there for him and wanting to help bc damn he can tell this kid's been through a fuckton but how? does he do this? How the actual fuck does he be a father?

... yeah, there's no doubt the feelings at this point have become fatherly— fond and protective, especially... considering what he's been told about Akira's father? Fuck that guy, Shido will legitimately fight him if he ever arrives here, because did he mention fuck that guy??? fuck that guy

Of course this is only more complicated by the fact that he feels... so goddamn responsible for what happened to Akira (NATURALLY???) and also about breaking his promise and also being a worthless flaming dumpster and remind him? again? what this kid found redeeming in him??? seriously he doesn't deserve this kid in the slightest
