Hello, and welcome to the sixth OOC Intro for Phantasmal Rift! This post also serves as a CR meme and overall state-of-the-game update!

IC Intro will go up on Monday, at the conclusion of the dungeon - but if you'd like, you can go ahead and jump into the tail end of the dungeon log now! You're welcome to top your own top levels using whatever prompts you like, and if nothing works, we'll be back at base soon!

(And yes, you get loot for any further comments you leave on the dungeon log, up to a max of five, same as in-game players. Any loot earned thusly will be appended to the sign-ups under a header with your character's journal name.)

Note:: Due to slowness in app responses, loot for new characters on the dungeon will be tallied at 11:59 PM Monday July 30th (instead of 11:59PM Sunday). Loot for existing characters will be tallied at the usual time. Further updates may be forthcoming.

STATE OF THE GAME

AC changes: Starting this cycle, AC will be on the 7th of each month, instead of a week after intro. This means points more often for everyone! Yay points. And yes, the calendar has been updated to reflect this.

STATION UPDATES: New housing? New housing! That's the bulk of it. Check it out here - ten singles in Lodestone, plus a whole new building featuring a gym and the long awaited doubles apartments. There is also now a page for Lodestone Station as well!

7/6; Sunny but a strong wind sets in in the afternoon, bringing with it stormclouds and a brief afternoon rain.
7/7-9; Sunny and warm, with a light breeze.
7/10-13: Sunny and humid; still air.
7/14-16: Foggy mornings, sunny afternoons, clear nights.
7/17-21: A long progression of "sunny and warm until late afternoon, clouds start to build around 3PM, intense but scattered rain from ~4PM to midnight with thunder."
7/22-23: Two days of full grey thunderstorms.
7/24-28: Sunny and breezy.
7/29: Sunny; high winds, making the day feel almost cold to those outside.
7/30-31: Sunny, hot, and humid, with scattered single clouds. Not quite heat wave material, but miserable for those not used to it.
8/1-3: Sunny with scattered clouds and cooler temperatures.
8/4-7: HEAT WAVE: Increasingly hot and sticky, recommended that you stay inside unless you're particularly well-adapted to hot climates.
8/8: Thunderstorm with impressive, pounding rain breaks the heat wave a little after noon, and continues into the morning of the 9th.
8/9: Stormy morning, fading into overcast throughout the day and eventually sun in the late afternoon. Heat wave ends, leaving the area much cooler.
8/10-13: Sunny and relatively cool.

What's their deal?: Local excessively tall goth actually retired king/spirit, his twin was the antichrist of their world at one point (but he's better now, because he was in a murdergame). Tends to be one of the more stable station residents until He Isn't, prone to dadding grandfathering anyone who looks like they might need it. Also, he's two thousand years old and slightly put out about no longer being the oldest at the Station, but it's fine, really.
Plotting: he's got to yell at Ardyn again I'm down for whatever! At some point this cycle he's going to run a second Adults Night (Truth or Dare), but we're looking for an nominee to run an all-ages version first before that can happen. He's pretty social for a weird old man who is prone to taking naps in strange places.

What's their deal?: A boy-next-door protagonist who went through four too many life or death games, Junpei is by turns dorky and relatable and Cynical McBitterpants with little to no transition. His struggle is with his disillusionment with humanity as a whole, his urge to be a hero despite his exasperation with the concept, and the balancing act between wanting to value his loved ones more than anything and the fact that he does, to his surprise, still have lingering beliefs about the greater good. He eases up around kids and loves movie references. Oh, also he's an esper who can sorta hop between alternate timelines, but it's complicated and he's not good at it.
Plotting: I think I'm changing Junpei's power/character development trajectory and having him deal more with his esper stuff! So if you want to actively torture me and yourself by having me explain Zero Escape in character, please, now is the time.

What's their deal?: Bai Lin is a martial artist from the 22nd century post-apocalyptic nuclear wastelands of central China who was cast out of her monastic order for trying to call out the corruption of the abbot. She is an eternal optimist, she's extremely moral, and she's not terribly bright. She's also interested in doing all the fun stuff that monks who live a very frugal and ascetic life aren't allowed to do, since she was technically banished from her order and thus not committed to maintaining that lifestyle anymore.
Plotting: Lin runs the station's Fight Club which is NOT a place for disaffected men who feel stifled by modern society's lack of willingness to let them be toxic to each other to beat each other up before eventually inducting them into a terrorist organization/cult. In this case, it's merely a regular meeting for people who want to stay in shape and pick up or sharpen their combat skills. Lin herself offers kung fu lessons to anyone interested who doesn't seem like a huge creep.

What's their deal?: Magical girl fights the patriarchy and establishment, wins. Lily is an absolute mess and emotional wreck, who accidentally stumbled on the conspiracy controlling all of society and got made out to be an evil monster. Oops! Mostly she is a loving, sweet girl with deeply repressed emotional issues who just wants to sleep for like a year, and automatically is hostile to anyone who seems to have any sort of authority.
Plotting: Upon coming in, Lily's going to have total emotional burnout for a few days, and will probably need some help to get through that.

Once she's done with that, she's going to try to make herself useful without actually going out into Fissures, so she's going to see people with powers and try to figure out how to improve or do new weird things with their powers. If that's a thing you'd be interested in, hit me up!

What's their deal?: Outlaw field medic from a galactic civilization of deceptively humanoid warlike bug aliens. She went AWOL from her duties tending to the grubs in the brooding caverns about thirty years ago and she's been working as ship's doctor on a variety of salvage, smuggling, and pirate space ships since. Kind of cagey about the exact color of her eyes and by extension her blood - trolls are socially stratified by blood color, and her jade green color is rare outside of the brooding caverns. Being careful about it's a habit she hasn't quite let go even without any other trolls around. Around here she works evening shifts in the medbay and generally is pretty sparse during the day - trolls being nocturnal - but she's friendly if a little aloof and occasionally rough around the edges.
Plotting: No real specific plans for her in the immediate future, beyond being around, sticking her nose in things, hanging out with her existing CR and making some new friends. If you need a medic for something I'm always up for her actually doing her job.

What's their deal?: Meredith is a precious teenage cinnamon roll too good for her horrible Evangelion-shaped nightmarescape world, too pure. She was previously plotting to overthrow the last adult on the planet for warcrimes and for abusing the ANIMa Pilot she was assigned to as support crew. Likes: cooking, embroidery, politicking, and girls (especially Pilot Anna Lin); Dislikes: Tyranny, abusive authority figures, improper sanitation, dumbass YOLO piloting, her situation back home.
Plotting: I'd love for Merry to go my kitchen now for a day or two and cook up something special, as well as for her to be the closest thing you've got to a psychologist. She's a better navigator than a fighter, so that'll be interesting to play out, too. What's their deal?: Sync is a shitchild, that's all you need to know. Okay not really but that's the main part of it. He's a shit, he does not really give a damn what you think, and he's prone to punching people that piss him off. Volatile is a good description of Sync's temper. He's also not exactly human, not entirely okay but bitterly accepting of this fact, and good god don't get onto existing and having a purpose discussions with him unless you want a headache because Issues, he's got them.

Also since Nai demands it since it's mildly relevant: the fact Sync is a replica means that while he looks 15 and tends to act Too Old depending on topic, he's technically only been alive for 3 Auldrant years (~6 Earth years) so yes. He is the youngest.
Plotting: Sync is going to be a big ball of ANGRY SMOL because Asch Is A Jerk so...someone to either cool him off or get punched by him may be helpful. I say may, because who knows, Sync is dumb okay. He's also, as mentioned, a big ball of Having A Purpose Issues that would be nice to work through. But other than that, I'm also open to whateves, give me all the things.

Also what is owning things. Boy has never owned anything in his life that he's actually perceived as truly his. Someone teach him the joy of loot.

Plotting: Jail is currently getting more and more into the metaplot here, trying to figure out what brought them here and why, her powers making her well-suited to this. What's their deal?: Chill, mysterious, but extremely blunt. Three-time murdergame participant between twice in canon and once again in her CRAU. Actually a little looser and more trusting after her CRAU because Estelle and Hanyuu are good influences. Doesn't actually have white hair (it's orange, so technically she's a Magic Redhead With A Terrible Life A Pretty Sizeable And Recent Section Of Life That Was Pretty Terrible). Second-generation time clone.
Plotting: She has a lot of things to work through since there's a bunch of people that actually know how to fight here and meanwhile she just kicked her brothers* in the face once each. (*It's very complicated.)

Plotting: Give Signe some CR! Some easy ins: fellow coffee enthusiasts, people who have issues with death or souls, other old people who look younger than they are. She also has a mentoring streak if you're somebody in the same kind of fields she's in (death god or coffee worker.)

What's their deal?: Maddie is a blind teenage podcaster and kind of a shitposter. Beyond that, she's also a part-time criminal and full-time Magical Girl. Her cat, Zel, is actually an eldritch spider monster, but he's cool. You like spider-cats right.
Plotting: Maddie has a pretty good array of adults watching out for her (although one or two more couldn't hurt), but she really needs friends her own age. Or a girlfriend her own age.

What's their deal?: Nono is the most upbeat BUT BURNING SHOUNEN HEART robot to ever exist. She loves giant robots, being a hero, her onee-sama, and birbs, but not necessarily in that order.
Plotting: Nono came in last month but hasn't really established a good CR foothold yet, so any frands would be welcome. She can connect easily with robots/people who like tech, HEROES or hero fanboys, or people who love animals (esp. birbs.)

What's their deal?: Arianna is a princess from post-post-apocalyptic fantasy Scotland who can make people stronger by yelling at them. She loves everyone who isn't a kidnapping shapeshifting tree alien and she can't wait to be everyone's best friend. But she's also a two-time murdergame survivor and this has left her with Issues.
Plotting: Arianna is, as always, out to Befriend Everyone. In the near future she'll also be trying to check in on everyone who got hurt in the dungeon (especially if they're named Yuuri) and meet all the new people. More generally, she's just looking for ways to make herself useful. ALSO! She is interested in organizing A Party Game for everyone, probably truth or dare or king's game (the latter of which will need some OOC organization). What's their deal?: Yuuri Wakasa is a gentle but terrifying nee-san, who was the Team Mom of a cast of adorable moe girls, from an adorable moe slice of life story that got violently derailed when the zombie apocalypse happened. After a year or so of surviving this, all four of them got kidnapped to take part in an interdimensional murdergame TV show. As you can probably guess, that sucked too. Yuuri got adopted by a Final Fantasy endboss, survived the murdergame, died, got engaged and was eventually reunited with her canonmates, including her dead little sister and moved to P5 era Japan (yes, in that order). And then she got interdimensionally kidnapped again, so like... bummer for you, huh, Rii-san?

Despite the amount of Abject Bullshit she's been through, Yuuri's marginally more well-adjusted and leagues more emotionally healthy than she was in canon. She's a fussy, powerful team mom, the most terrifying little lady out of her entire murder family and she is very unhappy to find herself kidnapped from her slice of life happy end epilogue and dumped into another interdimensional kidnapping situation.
Plotting: Yuuri got herself injured in the dungeon this month and that on top of getting A Fun Little Reminder of Home means she's going to be taking things easy over the next month or so. She and Junpei are moving over to the doubles apartments so having some natural light and a project to keep her occupied (TIME TO FUCKING DECORATE!!!!) will be pretty good for her! Aside from that, I'm hoping for her to make some more friends to get her out from under the comfort blanket of the people she's familiar with. THIS WAS ALSO MY GOAL LAST MONTH but hopefully now my life is not actively shitting on me i can actually do it

What's their deal?: Karamatsu is a monster refugee from the peninsula/game of Ryslig currently residing in the station with his brother of similar monstery status, Choromatsu! Shenanigans have since ensued.
Plotting: So I want to apologize for how horribly I flaked out on the last event/dungeon, in which I did...nothing, at all. I know I don't really need to explain myself or anything but I had a really bad bought of friend drama crop up that same week and things got pretty ugly, so I hadn't had the energy or drive to rp really much at all. I really apologize for that and I hate that I missed everything because I really was looking forward to my first event here, but I guess that's just how it shakes out sometimes. I really want to try and get myself back together and doing stuff here though, so I hope you guys will be willing to give Kara another shot. I really wanna do some plotting with you guys and start building some meaningful CR because I've enjoyed my time here so far quite a bit despite everything. I have some plans for some network posts for Kara in the works but otherwise I'm up for anything!

If it's kosher I plan on just handwaving if I can that Karamatsu was at the dungeon with Choromatsu, he just got there late and spent a majority of his time looting since that's what tempted him to go in the first place.

Plotting: To some extent, I'm really just interested in getting Ruto settled for now and interacting with people. I'd love to see her compare/contrast primals with other versions of FF summons or other people's summons in general, but I'm trying to let her really develop her own voice and see where she'll go!

Plotting: Mai's getting a new sword from the toy store on the last day of the Fissure so she doesn't have to worry about that one melting too, but other than that, the events of the past two Fissures have led her to try and come to terms with healing again. She may try and attempt it in private or even approach you if you're hurt. Aside from that, I'll throw her at just about anything.

What's their deal?: Mutant plant human who's priestess of a chaos goddess that's, well, hedonistic and mischievous, but also kind. Melia shares those qualities, in additional being motherly sometimes. Not really fond of fighting, though she can do something in a pitch. Besides priestly duties and general having fun, her favorite hobby is cooking, which she's really good at. Considering the randomness of the animals and plants in the constantly changing chaos-touched landscape her homeland's in, you're probably better off not asking what's in her cooking.
Plotting: Naturally I want all the CR, but I'd especially like it with people who like to have fun and people she can mother. Also in general she'll be amazed at advanced technology.

What's their deal?: Pidonus is a powerful Succubus and Bard, having run a special high-optimization build to better attain her now-former goal of destroying the Demon Lord of Wrath. Right now, she's got some turmoil going on due to kind of realizing she prefers this world to her own, but feeling obligated (due to what the majority of people around her have recognized as rather heavy-duty brainwashing) to return home even though odds are it'd be returning to her death.

Plotting: Over the next month, as Pidonus turns all the resources she'll have acquired from Incendia into her goal, she'll be unintentionally creating a Palace of sorts - at this point, it'll actually be possible to properly break her Queen's control over her safely.
