OOC INTRO - DEC 2018
Hello, and welcome to the OOC Intro for Phantasmal Rift! This post also serves as a CR meme for existing players and new!
Due to the unusual format of this month's dungeon and its extended length, the official IC intro won't be until the first week of January. The usual state-of-the-game update will also be at that time. In the meanwhile, new players can tag into either the first or second part of the dungeon log as they please! (You can also continue tagging your test drive threads, or move them over, as you desire.)
(And yes, you get loot for any further comments you leave on the dungeon log, up to a max of five, same as in-game players. Any loot earned thusly will be appended to the sign-ups under a header with your character's journal name.)
As a reminder, all players get a free pass for activity check this month, so that you can have a relaxing holiday season here at Phantasmal Rift! Points will be tallied as normal on January 7th and posted with the State of the Game update, the in-game weather, and the teaser for the next dungeon at that time. Happy Holidays!

What's their deal?: Yuuri Wakasa is a gentle but terrifying nee-san, who was the Team Mom of a cast of adorable moe girls, from an adorable moe slice of life story that got violently derailed when the zombie apocalypse happened. After a year or so of surviving this, all four of them got kidnapped to take part in an interdimensional murdergame TV show. As you can probably guess, that sucked too. Yuuri got adopted by a Final Fantasy endboss, survived the murdergame, died, got engaged and was eventually reunited with her canonmates, including her dead little sister and moved to P5 era Japan (yes, in that order). And then she got interdimensionally kidnapped again, so like... bummer for you, huh, Rii-san?
Despite the amount of Abject Bullshit she's been through, Yuuri's marginally more well-adjusted and leagues more emotionally healthy than she was in canon. She's a fussy, powerful team mom, the most terrifying little lady out of her entire murder family and she is very unhappy to find herself kidnapped from her slice of life happy end epilogue and dumped into another interdimensional kidnapping situation.
Plotting: With Christmas being such a busy month, I don't have too many plans! Mostly, Yuuri's going to be keeping an eye on Kurumi, sulking about not being home for Christmas and probably throwing a belated birthday party for Arianna once they get home from the dungeon and she realizes they've missed her birthday. UNACCEPTABLE.

What's their deal?: An ex-sickly anime waif and certified Good Girl. She learned alchemy from the alchemist who saved her life as a child and now travels around the JRPG country of Adelheld to prove herself and her mastery of alchemy. After getting mixed up with the party, they uncover a conspiracy, overthrow a church, summon a god, right wrongs and triumph over evil, all that good stuff.
Plotting: Now that she's mostly settled in, I want to get Sophie into some mischief! She'll be getting another castmate from home and she's going to be happy about that, but she's also going to be pretty restless once they get back to Keystone Station. I haven't quite decided what I want her to get up to though, aside from being confused about whatever this Christmas business is.

What's their deal?: Seemingly emotionless anime girl learns to say more than 0-5 words at a time sometimes, has an existential crisis and dies (twice), makes a bunch of friends, kind of loves everyone but has no idea what to do with feelings when you're not suppressing them. She also has a pet AI, Bear-san, who's a tiny robot usually but now turns into a real black bear in active Fissures, so she won't really be going into the town this dungeon unless she finds a bearsitter. He's a little ill-behaved.
Plotting: Mai is always up for learning about magic in other worlds, hanging around with all the station's animals, and providing stunted emotional support to those who have been through tough situations. She's also been testing out the healing abilities she rejected for years and recently used them to heal the injured Largomare at Arianna's urging, so that'll probably have already made the gossip rounds.

What's their deal?: Straight out of the fall of Insomnia this particular Glaive really should be dead. He's not entirely sure what to think about not being dead. What's their deal?: Chill adventure bro has been through one murder game too many. Tries not to let that get in the way, even though he pretty much lost his voice to that last one... Though he recently ended up with an upgrade to his watch that lets it speak for him, so yeah.
Plotting: After catching up with his classmate Maki Harukawa and such, he's gonna just wing it after he gets home from the dungeon, maybe take lessons on how to hammerspace or something. Though, depending on how the catching up with Maki goes, he might be losing some sleep over what she had to say, which means Close CR might recieve texts from him at four in the morning. Sorry.

What's their deal?: Princess who makes people stronger by yelling. Loves everyone. Got mixed up in a lot of Sad Things and has ended up unhealthily concerned with whether she's being helpful and how good of a princess she actually is. Part of the weird family tree-tangle as Yuuri's sister and Ardyn's daughter and also Kyoko's sister. Despite appearances she's either 20 or almost 20 (it's a little complicated right now) and married. Thinks her wife would probably be okay with her smooching Faith nonspecific pretty girls or boys in her absence, but doesn't want to go behind her back, b-but enough about her relationship status, who can she set you up with? Has a couple of pets, a weird amphibious hedgehog and a soot cat.
Plotting: Arianna has missed her birthday due to timeskip dungeon. Word on the street is this oversight is going to be corrected.

What's their deal?: A good kid who needs hugs-- I mean... He's a good-hearted young man who tends to come off as a bit jumpy at times but is sweet and is from a world where a lot of people have 'gifted' abilities. Oh. They also share names with famous authors so that's a thing!
His ability happens to allow him to turn into a large, magnificent white tiger or manifest parts of himself to be tiger-like without going the full transformation!!
Plotting: I'd like him to get some more friends and to eventually get full control of his Tiger ability without going rampant and being able to remember it fully! Also he'll be looking for someone to help him train and fight better, too!

What's their deal?: While Regis may often look stern and distant as befitting a king, he is very much a kindhearted and emotional man. More than anything he would have loved to have more time actually being able to be a father to his son, but fate and his duty to Lucis made that impossible. He carries his burdens and the pain channeling the Crystal has caused him with quiet dignity, despite the fact he would be well within his rights to be angry with the fate that has not only been laid upon himself (no father wants to have to strike a killing blow against their own child), but also upon his son. He strongly believes in his son, though, and that is why he was so willing to throw everything (including his life) away to get Noctis what he needed in order to fulfill that fate.
Plotting: Once he's released from the infirmary, good luck getting him inside again! After spending the last waaaay too many years mostly stuck inside the Citadel and even longer unable to leave Insomnia, he's going to be outside as much as he can for a while. Some fishing might be nice too... Honestly, anything that will keep him from getting too lost in his head will be what I'm looking for, for him. He might have been just a min or two from dying back home, but that doesn't mean he is going to be able just to let things go. His mind doesn't work that way.

What's their deal?: Local excessively tall goth actually retired king/spirit, his twin was the antichrist of their world at one point (but he's better now, because he was in a murdergame). Tends to be one of the more stable station residents until He Isn't, prone to dadding grandfathering anyone who looks like they might need it. Also, he's two thousand years old and slightly put out about no longer being the oldest at the Station, but it's fine, really.
Plotting: Izunia is boiling over in glee because one of his descendants is here now and also That Hot Glaive who Told me Off One Time - he's been largely absent from the dungeon in part due to my RL but also ICly because he is FUSSING. What's their deal?: Serial murdergame veteran (two canon, one CRAU). More lost than she lets on now that all that stress is over; there's something she still needs to do at home but odds are it can wait plus her family and friends are helping with that. Trying to figure out how to use magic without being randomly granted it by exposure to chaotic Fissure energies. Owns one Pokemon, a Porygon, but it's not exactly trained for strength.
Plotting: She's probably due for a breakthrough in wizardry soon. Also the expedition sailed right over her birthday (Nov 16), and also Christmas, so for once she gets to experience the pain of One Party Multiple Occasions. She is officially 21 now by all sane reckonings, and even though she has imbibed before she will definitely do so again.
